As per its usual routine, Singapore Airlines releases a monthly list of flights that it will discount (award redemptions) for members of its frequent flyer program, Krisflyer. For June 2018, the carrier is offering a 30% discount for those redeeming miles for seats in Economy and Business Class to destinations across its network (sans North America). The same discount applies for redemptions to select destinations on its sister carrier SilkAir as well.

A few caveats:

  • This promotion is only valid if flights are booked and any waitlists cleared before 31 May
  • Your redemptions are only valid for travel between 1 and 30 June 2018.
  • Note that the numbers listed in the pictures found below are for one-way flights, and exclude any applicable taxes and fees (which are pretty low anyway due to a change in Mar 2017)

Do refer to the relevant images found below for flights that you may be interested in. Note that for destinations in Asia, the first image will display redemption options on Singapore Airlines (SQ) while the latter will show redemptions on Silk Air (MI).

South East Asia

The options available for this month pales in comparison to previous offerings as most of the flights available are operated with the carrier's oldest jets. We wouldn't recommend redeeming your hard earned miles for these flights as most of the discounts are for Economy Class tickets which are bad from a redemption value perspective.

North Asia

The list looks much better for destinations further north as there are options available for flights to China's tier one cities. Nevertheless, redeeming seats on SQ856 (Singapore - Hong Kong) and SQ 861 (Hong Kong – Singapore) will allow you to experience the carrier's newest seats onboard its brand new A380. Redeeming a flight to Hiroshima might also prove useful since Silk Air flies its new 737 Max 8 planes to the city. However, most would likely be disappointed that popular destinations like Seoul, Tokyo and Taipei are missing this time around.

South Asia

For destinations across South Asia, we can see the carrier very aggressively discounting Business Class tickets on most of its destinations to the subcontinent. While these may seem like good options, note here that these are regional Business Class seats that are in a 2-2-2 configuration.

Oceania (Australia and New Zealand)

As flights to Australia and New Zealand are one of the most popular in the Singapore Airlines network, its not surprising to see that availability to cities like Melbourne and Auckland are missing. In any case, if you do need to get to Australia and are currently baulking at insane ticket prices, redeeming a flight with miles now may make sense for you.

Europe and the Middle East

Flights to Europe are also very popular options for those travelling during their Summer break. Whereas in the past cities like Paris, Frankfurt and Stockholm would be available, only Dusseldorf (a Krisflyer Escapes veteran) remains. #PrayforDusseldorf. Nevertheless, redeeming a flight to Dusseldorf is a sensible option since the flight is operated by the carrier's new A350s, giving you a comfortable and affordable option to Europe.

Though some might say that the list for June seems anaemic compared to the more extensive lists of previous months, note that June is one of the biggest months for Singapore Airlines as many travellers are travelling for their School or Summer holidays. Hence, it is not surprising to see that there are less redemption opportunities available this time around.
